Feels like I’m in a time machine rowing back the days 1.4MB was as mighty as a BluRay disc, and now I’m starting to feel older. As Floppy disk were the first steps of mobile storage that comes up to terabytes today, no doubt that its inexistence will be missed.
“Due to dwindling demand, Sony discontinued European production of 3.5-inch floppy disks in September 2009. The last European sale of a floppy disk took place in March 2010,” a Sony spokesperson said.
Technology moves really past, now Floppy Disk was a culminating part of computer history –nostalgia of abacus computing. However, ridiculously this corruptible piece of storage seeds other forms of advance storage –cloud and Google Docs wasn’t the first one.
Now let us feel how deeply you appreciate the Floppy disk, let me here you at the comment form.
Here is a post from EBAUM NATION about the 20GB in 1980 vs. 32GB in 2010 that will make you realize that time really flies.
